Murphy’s 3 HRs not enough for Yankees’ Double-A team

Thursday night’s most digit-packed boxscore came out of Erie, where Trenton — the Yankees’ Double-A affiliate — opened a road trip with a 15-14 loss. Catcher J.R. Murphy had three of Trenton’s six home runs — a franchise record — and five RBIs. For more on Murphy’s development, find the Beating the Bushes column in tomorrow’s Post.

Third baseman Rob Segedin, out of Old Tappan, had two homers, including a comeback-capping job in the eighth, but his fifth error of the young season scored the losing run. First baseman Kyle Roller also went deep. No. 2 Yankees prospect Slade Heathcott, who had returned to the lineup Wednesday following a five-game absence due to a stiff neck and then endured a seven-hour bus trip, was the only starter without one of Trenton’s 17 hits, going a brutal 0-for-6 with three strikeouts.

Lefty Matt Tracy was blasted for the second time in three starts, allowing nine runs and 10 hits. Tracy has surrendered four walks in each start, lasting, in order, 0.1 innings, five innings and three innings. That gives him a 16.20 ERA and 13.0 walks per nine innings.

Now we’ll bounce around farm for the rest of Thursday’s action:

YANKEES

Triple-A Scranton: Dellin Betances gave up a four-spot in the first inning, opening the game with an un-oh sequence of single, double, single, home run. The hulking righty did not allow another hit in his four innings, finishing with five runs, three walks and four strikeouts in the 5-4 loss to Rochester. Outfielder Melky Mesa had three hits and his third homer of the season. David Adams hit his first homer.

High-A Tampa: The offensive highlights in a 13-7 win over Daytona included top prospect Mason Williams’ triple and three walks, catcher Gary Sanchez’s 3-for-4 with a home run, left fielder Ben Gamel’s pair of triples and trio of walks. Second baseman Robert Refsnyder went 1-for-6 in his Florida State League debut after a promotion from Low-A Charleston.

Low-A Charleston: Jose Campos, the electric right-hander who was the extra ingredient in the Michael Pineda-Jesus Montero swap and missed most of last season due to elbow issues, started and went three innings, as has been his cautious norm this season. The 20-year-old from Venezuela allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts in the eventual 8-6 loss to Hickory. Dante Bichette Jr. went 0-for-4 to make it a 2-for-22 rut and drop his average to .153.

METS

High-A St. Lucie: Noah Syndergaard, the dynamic right-hander who came over from Toronto in the big R.A. Dickey trade, was roughed up to the tune of eight hits and seven runs (with just two strikeouts) in three innings. That comes on the heels of two positive starts to open the season. Shortstop Matt Reynolds, the 2012 second-round pick out of Arkansas, drove in three with his first home run and first triple of the season: By beating St. Lucie, 11-8, the Doug Mientkiewicz-managed Fort Myers club, a Twins affiliate, improved to 13-1 as super prospect Miguel Sano, subject of the documentary “Pelotero,” hit his fifth homer.

Triple-A Las Vegas: In the first game without prized catcher Travis d’Arnaud, sidelined with a broken foot, Wilmer Flores — once the organization’s top position prospect — hit his first home run of the season and drove in three. Outfielders Juan Lagares and Andrew Brown had multi-hit games to sustain batting averages north of .350. Southpaw Darin Gorski, 25, notched the win; sidearmed Greg Burke, fresh off an assigment after two weeks in the Show, threw a scoreless frame.

Double-A Binghamton: Right-hander Brett Pill, Baseball America’s No. 27 Mets prospect, made his best start of the season: six innings, three runs, one walk and six strikeouts. Second baseman Daniel Muno drove in three runs in the 4-3 win over New Hampshire.

Low-A Savannah: Brandon Nimmo was cooled off with an 0-for-4 and two strikeouts following a blinding 10-for-19, four-game stretch. Gabriel Ynoa, a lanky right-hander from the Dominican Republic who is still 19, took the loss after six solid innings of five hits, three runs and three strikeouts in the 3-2 decision vs. Lakewood.
